The other day I was watching the news, and they had a story about babies learning how to swim, who were no more that six months old. Some of you might think that this a bad idea, but I found it amazing, and a great idea. They have special trained infant swim instructors teaching the babies, when put in water to swim to the top of the water and turn over on their back and float… saving their life if they ever fell in a pool or bath tub. Infant drownings happen all the time, and it is sad because if the parents only knew that their child life could have been saved by these infant swim lessons, they would have taken them. The story said that none of the babies have ever gotten hurt in class. And of the thousands of babies who have learned to float, none have ever drowned. Getting the babies in the water as soon as possible could save their life someday. I’m really planning on taking Marley when she gets old enough. You can go online and find a instructor near you. I had both of my sons in swimming lessons from the age of about 6 months. I think it is a great idea for kids to learn how their body moves in water and the effect it has on them. They teach skills that could one day save a childs life like holding on the edge and crawling (monkey arms style) along to the ladder or steps. They even teach them to turn themself around and grab the edge of the pool if they fall in.
exactly tomorrow me and my son have our first lesson.
